Abstract summary 

To describe some of the challenges in the provision of psychiatric services in Papua New Guinea.Many of the challenges faced when providing mental health care are not clinical in nature, but rather a combination of social, cultural, economic and infrastructural factors that hinder the adequate provision of, and access to, psychiatric services in Papua New Guinea.
