The JLFSY investigated the consequences of food insecurity on the wellbeing of adolescents over time. It involved close to 2,100 adolescents from urban, semi-urban, and rural areas of Jimma Zone in Southwest Ethiopia. The study was initiated in 2005 when the global food crisis started hiking, and data collection, analysis, and use of it has continued through 2015. The study encompassed 18 study sites spread over four Woreda (districts) from rural, semi-urban, and urban communities to represent a range of ecological and development contexts.
